Chernihiv is the administrative center of the Chernihiv Region (population of the city is 300,000; population of the region is 1,4 mln).

Chernihiv is one of the ancient Ukrainian cities. It was founded in the 7th century with lots of really old architecture preserved giving visitors a chance to "feel the ai of the old history.

Chernihiv is a "must-go" destination for anyone interested in the history of the struggle of old Slavs against nomad tribes, later Cossack history and the attempts of Ukraine to gain independence, medieval Slavic sacral architecture and fortification or simply willing to enjoy the picturesque Desna River.

The places of interest in Chernihiv include: the castle (7-12th centuries); Saviour Cathedral, one of the oldest temples in Ukraine (11th century); the Cathedral of St. Boris and St. Glib (12th century); the Museum of Tradition Crafts of Chernihiv Area.

Чернігів — одне з давніх українських міст. Він був заснований у VII ст. і зберіг до наших днів безліч пам'яток давньої архітектури, що дає можливість гостям міста «відчути подих історії».
